Simon Fifield (BBlt Env., GradDipIndDes., JD) is the founder of Starting Block Business Consultants and Starting Block Lawyers. Simon is a corporate/commercial lawyer and award winning industrial design consultant with more than 10 years experience helping businesses grow.

Simon has assisted companies to strategically improve the capabilities of their boards and executive teams prior to initialising a growth strategy or raising capital.
Design and engineering background
Simon owned and operated an award winning industrial design consultancy for more than 6 years prior to becoming a lawyer. Simon’s industrial design work focused on user centered design and achieving consistency, quality, and economy through manufacturing excellence.Simon enjoys working with diverse professional teams comprising specialist consultants including patent attorneys, engineers, scientists, technologists, management consultants, accountants, and many more.
As an adjunct to his design work, and with a view to helping clients achieve better results in manufacturing, Simon qualified as a lead auditor in quality management systems.
Education and experience
Simon has a Juris Doctor degree from Melbourne University, a Graduate Diploma in Industrial Design and Bachelor of Built Environment from Queensland University of Technology. Simon is also a qualified lead auditor in quality management systems (ISO9000), and has expertise in a number of manufacturing systems, production systems, supply chain management methodologies, automation technologies, and information technologies.
